RIS Sidhu joined Punjab National Bank on 1st March 1971. He is a Gold Medalist in B.Com. and M.A. (Eco.). He has also acquired CAIIB from IIB and PG Diploma in Bank Management from National Institute of Bank Management, Pune. Sidhu has a rich experience of handling various assignments as Senior Executive viz. Chief Manager, Regional Manager, Senior Regional Manager, Deputy General Manager and General Manager.
He is presently nominated for various committees viz. Inter Ministry Task Force on Investment, Credit and Technical Support, Committee on Restructuring of loans provided to sugar industry, SIDBI Investment Committee of SME Growth Fund, 'Think Tank' of Bankers Training College, Mumbai. He is also a member of India Advantage Fund Investment Committee of ICICI Venture Funds Management Company Ltd. and Director of PNB Principal Financial Planners Pvt. Ltd.
He is also member of committee on Information Technology and Business Process Reengineering (BPR) for 2006-07 constituted by Indian Banks' Association, Standing Technical Evaluation Committee of IDRBT for finalizing IP VPN service provider for INFINET and High Level Steering Committee on XBRL-based Data Reporting by Banks Chaired by Shri V. Leeladhar, Dy. Governor, RBI.Promoter Director On the Board of National Payment Corporation of India(NPCI)
Now, he is heading the Information Technology Division of Punjab National Bank. Under his able and dynamic guidance, Punjab National Bank has scaled heights of technology deployment and leverage in Punjab National Bank. To name a few of his endeavors are:

Best IT Team for the Year 2005-2006 by IDRBT, Hyderabad; CIO 100 award by IDG Media Private Ltd, PCQuest Award for Best IT implementation (Enterprise Management System), CA Excellence Award 2007 for ESM Roll Out, CIO 100 Award -2008 by IDG Media Pvt. Ltd. etc.
Presently, Sidhu is keen in bringing the whole Bank under Core Banking Umbrella by 31.12.2008. Setting up of Data Warehouse project and leveraging Core Banking Solution, which would assist the Bank in better Decision Support System (DSS), Business Intelligence, Management Information System (MIS) and Decision Making.

- Driven various value additions to alternate delivery channels like ATMs and Internet Banking.
- Initialized Data Warehouse Project, one of the unique initiatives in the Indian Banking Industry.
- Launch of on-line trading facility for shares, mutual funds etc.
- Multi lingual screens for ATMs thereby giving personal touch of banking to local customers. ATMs for rural and blind people.
- Participation in various e-payment initiatives of Govt. of India for, payment of fees/duty/taxes/commissions etc. through Internet Banking.
- Strengthening Information Security initiatives consistently to safeguard the interest of customer as well as Bank.
- Networking of all branches of Bank across the country.
- Financial Inclusion to un-banked areas through latest technology based products/services.
